The roots of Uniform Technology® run as deep as founder Susan Routt’s passion for the highly demanding contamination control industry. After managing the uniform needs of businesses with cleanroom environments, Susan took a chance and founded Fibrotek Industries in Colorado in 1987. Success followed and was built on Fibrotek’s ability to take on the “I need it yesterday” demands of high-tech companies for apparel that meets precise requirements and strict standards.

In 1999, Fibrotek was acquired by VF Corporation and Susan stayed on as President of the Fibrotek division. Three years later, following a reorganization at VF, she had the opportunity to buy the business back.

Uniform Technology® was established in 2002. Susan used her experience to identify new opportunities for Controlled Environment apparel in a growing number of industries, from Automotive to Biotech, Food Safety, Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, Semiconductor and more.

Through the years, Uniform Technology® developed innovative products and proprietary brands to meet the needs of key customers. While solving highly technical contamination control needs and actively working with the organizations that create industry standards, Uniform Technology® established a reputation as the “go-to” company for expert knowledge, technical support, documentation, education and training.

Protective Industrial Products, Inc, shares its roots in cleanroom technologies when it started in 1984 selling mostly cotton lisle inspection gloves. That division continued to grow with recent acquisitions. In 2019, a deal was struck to acquire Uniform Technology®. Today, Uniform Technology® is a flagship brand of PIP’s Controlled Environment portfolio.
